Find Your Tribe

Finding your tribe

Hey there, yes, I know it’s been a few months. But I have been busy finding my tribe! Well, I have a pretty strong tribe, but there is always room for more!
I’ve also had some exciting projects in the works and have been busily getting things moving forward. Let’s go back to finding your tribe and what that means exactly.

Boy, did the universe align when they brought us together?

Let me introduce you to the woman pictured below.

Usually, you meet people you find interesting; you find out you have things in common and hang out a few times, then BAM! Best Friends!

In Laura and I’s case, we didn’t have that same “meet up” we met on a grief site for grieving mothers. Found out we lived in the same city and decided we should try and get together at some point.

It took us a while to finally find the courage to meet in person, but we never wanted to leave each other’s side once we did.

There is no way to explain what it means to find another grieving mother who understands every ounce of what you are going through without explaining what you feel. She knows the look; she knows. I know.

I’m telling you this today to encourage you to find your tribe. Be it one person or many. It is essential to make those connections after a tragic event. These are the people that understand us. These are the people that get it.

Ok, this post is two-part since it’s been a while. I want to update you on those projects that have been going on.

First, I have completed my children’s book on grief. Sister In My Heart is now available on Amazon along with My Rainbow to Keep. I worked with the very talented Christian Calhoun, who illustrated this lovely book.

I initially wrote this book for my youngest to help her understand where her sister was and generate open conversation about her.

As I worked on the project, I felt there was a need for books like this one, and I believe that it will be beneficial to others out there in the world who are in a similar situation to mine.

I have two other novels in the works, but I am taking my time on those and letting the writing happen as it evolves. In the meantime, I am working on journals and smaller affirmation/mantra books that will hopefully brighten your day.

Upcoming blessings are my son’s marriage and soon-to-be daughter-in-law this fall—many beautiful experiences to be grateful for this year.

Sending love and light always
xo Michelle
